ACIA (Australian Climbing Instructors Association)

The Australian Climbing Instructors' Association (ACIA) is an incorporated body formed by the merger of state based professional climbing instructor organizations. The Climbing Instructors Association incorporated in Victoria and including NSW, and the Rock climbing Instructors Association of Queensland have now dissolved as separate state bodies and operate under the national banner of the Australian Climbing Instructors Association. Its formation was driven by a desire to unify climbing instructor accreditation nation wide and to improve quality of instruction, environmental sensitivity, and liaison with government and related bodies. As well as providing training opportunities, The ACIA aims to promote the interests of it's members on a range of important issues: insurance, access, land management, and national recognition of qualifications.

A current certificate in Wilderness First Aid is an integral part of outdoor enthusiasts, guides and trip leaders preparation for the outdoor environment.

The Wilderness Medicine Institute’s goal is to provide the highest quality education and information for the recognition, treatment and prevention of wilderness emergencies. We employ scenario-based teaching as a complement to lecture style instruction. We believe that this is why our students learn so well and feel confident in employing their newly acquired skills.
