Coefficient is committed to providing useful, high quality training. All of the training programs that we advertise will
be able to be used as evidence for gaining National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme (NOLRS) registration. If you don’t
know what NOLRS is about you can find out more in the WIKI or visit http://outdoorcouncil.asn.au .
That being said, we don’t want training to be solely about chasing pieces of paper! During the course of the year
we will advertise a number of events which are more about gaining and maintaining skills than passing assessments.
These “open source” days will be free or have a minimal charge attached to them and will be run by people who have real
experience and passion for the topics they are presenting. As with “open source” software these free days will only succeed
if they are supported by the greater outdoor community. So register on the forums and keep an eye out for emails about upcoming events.
High quality training can be done for free!

For those of you who want to know what qualifications and certifications are the most useful to get you work, the following are the basics that most centres look for:
- Wilderness First Aid
- Flatwater Canoeing instructor Level 1
- PACI Vertical Rescue
The items listed above are really the minimum and ideally we would like to have more people in our community with the following:
- University Degree
- CERT III ,IV or Diploma in Outdoor Recreation
- Waterwater Instructor LEVEL 2
- ACIA Single Pitch Guide
- Swiftwater Rescue operator
We acknowledge that the courses listed above are a small subset of the vast number of national and internationally recognised
courses available and the simplest way to ratify your skill set is to register with the NOLRS Scheme. Feel free to call
or email the Coefficient office if you would like to talk about your specific requirements.
